YEREVAN. – Armenia is obligated to be flexible and circumspect in its foreign policy.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan stated the abovementioned in his address at Friday’s official opening of the 5th Armenia-Diaspora Conference.

“The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unresolved. Azerbaijan runs a militant policy; Turkey displays an extremely biased attitude [in Azerbaijan’s favor] and continues to blockade Armenia.

“On the other hand, [neighboring] Georgia’s [strained] relations with Russia likewise do not contribute to stability in the region and do not enable us [Armenia] to make a full use of the transit and foreign economic cooperation opportunities.

“[But] the Armenian authorities are taking steps, based on our national interests, to ensure the security and sustainable development of the Republic of Armenia in the best possible way,” Abrahamyan noted, in particular.
