YEREVAN. – Constitutional reforms in Armenia should be accompanied by wide debates to understand the meaning of the reforms, UK Ambassador Katherine Leach told reporters asked whether reforms will help to build a more democratic country.

Ambassador Leach said it is difficult to give a univocal answer, since she is representing UK – a country without official Constitution.

The diplomat said she expects constitutional reforms will be accompanied by wide debates and public discussions.

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia and President Serzh Sargsyan have initiated constitutional reforms which are also supported by ARF. Three parliamentary forces – Prosperous Armenia, Heritage and the Armenian National Congress – are opposing the reforms.
