YEREVAN. – Joint projects implemented by UNDP and Armenia were discussed during UNDP Administrator Helen Clark's visit to Yerevan, Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian told reporters on Monday.

UNDP has been providing assistance to Armenia in different areas during 23 years of independence, Nalbandian said during a joint media conference with Clark.

“We have exchanged views on organization's activities, discussed global tasks, international agenda and UN's role. The sides agreed that violence in the Middle East is unacceptable,” the Minister noted.

UNDP official, for her part, underscored Armenia's role and participation in the work of UNDP Executive Board, other structures and bodies of UN.

Helen Clark expressed graduate to Armenia for assistance to Syrian refugees and noted Armenia's participation in the peacekeeping missions.

UNDP Administrator assured of UN's readiness to support Armenia on the development path that the country will choose. In this term, the importance of Armenia's orientation toward development of IT sector was underscored.

Asked how she sees further cooperation with Armenia given that the UNDP regional office moved from Slovenia to Turkey, Clark said organization will work with Armenia in any format acceptable for the country.
