YEREVAN. – Armenia and Azerbaijan are merely a tool for Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, to express dissatisfaction with each other’s policy.

Caucasus Institute Director, political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan stated the above-said at a press conference on Thursday.

Commenting on the chances of Azerbaijan’s joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU), the analyst stressed:

“First, Azerbaijan doesn’t have and has never had such intention. Second, no one has seriously offered this to it. Third, this matter is not on any agenda. Fourth, Armenia will become an EaEU member from the beginning of January [of next year]. And fifth, [and] probably the most important, there exists a Minsk-Astana-Moscow format of relations; various pretexts are used in this format, to show their displeasure with one another’s policy,” Iskandaryan noted.

As per the analyst, Armenia and Azerbaijan are just one of these pretexts.

“This virtually has nothing to do with the actual NKR [i.e., Nagorno-Karabakh Republic], Armenia, and Azerbaijan,” the political scientist added.
