YEREVAN. – Preferences for border villages proposed by Prosperous Armenia contain risks, the government said as a conclusion to the package drafted by MPs Mikael Melkumyan and Naira Zohrabyan.

In particular, the deputies offered to set a zero license payment for small business functioning in the border areas.

As noted in the written statement of the government it is difficult to monitor the targeting accuracy of this benefit: you can register a business in the border region, and actually use it elsewhere.

As to the proposal to subsidize land and property tax from the state budget, the Ministry of Finance proposed to extend this benefit only on land and property within these settlements.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance said the essence of the bill as a whole is appropriate and recommends Prosperous Armenia to join forces with the government that is working on a package of bills to support border regions.
