YEREVAN. – Armenian Chief of Staff-Minister Davit Harutyunyan is unaware of the reasons for Armen Gevorgyan's resignation from the post of a Deputy Prime Minister.

“I think it is not correct to speak about the reasons for Armen Gevorgyan's resignation, since the best explanation can be presented only by Gevorgyan personally,” Harutyunyan told reporters on Friday.

Armen Gevorgyan’s resignation was announced at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting. Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan had informed that Gevorgyan had submitted a letter of resignation and that he will be working in the private sector.

Commenting on reporters' remark that Gevorgyan was ex-president Kocharyan's recruit, the Minister recalled that “Mr. Kocharyan is not engaged in politics now”.

“All of us – Armen Gevorgyan, Serzh Sargsyan and Hovik Abrahamyan – were working when Kocharyan was in office. We were working as a team,” he emphasized.
