YEREVAN. - Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan received on Friday the Regional Director of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) Marie-Pierre Poirier, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.

The UN official arrived in Armenia to participate in the annual regional meeting of the UNICEF coordinators. Armenia’s PM stressed the special role of UNICEF in the protection of children’s rights, improvement of their living conditions and health. Hovik Abrahamyan expressed willingness to further contribute to any initiatives of the Fund. He noted the efficiency of many programs conducted by UNICEF in Armenia and assured that Armenian government will be consistent in their implementation.

Marie-Pierre Poirier noted that the introduction of the system of integrated social services in Armenia can serve as a good example for other countries in the region.

Both parties stressed that the basis of cooperation should be to support the most vulnerable groups of children.
