YEREVAN. – About a hundred young working parents on Thursday assembled outside the Government of Armenia Building (photos).

They are demanding the recall of the law amendments, pursuant to which the prenatal and postnatal benefits being paid to working mothers will be reduced in Armenia.

The demonstrators are holding respective signs, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from the scene.

Some young parents are participating in the protest together with their children.

The protestors handed their letter of demand to Aleksandr Ghazaryan, Head of the Government Department of Petitions and Complaints, who promised to give an answer within fifteen days.

The government, on the other hand, justifies the aforesaid law amendments on the need to set maternity benefits, and on the basis of the abovementioned reduction, for nonworking women.
