STEPANAKERT. – October 21 was marked by two significant events at Artsakh State University (ArSU).

The opening ceremony of the lecture room of German language and presentation of the English-language version of the book “A Subject of Armenian Genocide in the German and Austrian Literature” by university professor Marina Arustamyan was held.

Thanks to the German friends, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the leadership of the university the long-term dream became reality.

Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in the German state of Hessen Steven Brian Fera and governor of Bergstrasse Matthias Wilkes participated in the ceremony.

“In 2015, the Armenian people all over the globe will mark centennial of the Armenian Genocide. ArSU will join them with presentation of the English-language version of the book by Marina Arustamyan,” said university rector.

“It's great that students speak German well, and creation of a specialized room of German language will give an impetus to in-depth study of language, and will help bring the voice of Artsakh to the European Parliamen,” Brian Fera said.

For his part, Matthias Wilkes pointed to a monument standing in front of the German parliament which constantly “reminds us of our fault”.

“Once Turkey will recognize its guilt for the crimes committed a century ago, and it will be the beginning of friendship between Armenia and Turkey,” he added.
