YEREVAN. – Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier welcomes the readiness of Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders to meet in Paris.

The German side is following Karabakh peace talks and the upcoming meeting in Paris, Steinmeier said during a media conference in Yerevan on Thursday.

“We see the readiness [for resolution] of many sides, including the parties to the conflict,” he said.

Germany, for its part, is ready to contribute to the establishment of regional peace, but the first steps must be taken at a meeting of the presidents.

“The main thing is that the parties are ready to meet, they responded to the invitation of the President of France. We wish the meeting could yield results,” Steinmeir said.

A meeting of the presidents of France, Armenia and Azerbaijan is planned for late October.
