YEREVAN. – A school specializing in teaching Chinese will open in Armenia, the government decided on Thursday.

Education Ministеr Armen Ashotyan said the Chinese side will have an opportunity to use one of the functioning schools in Yerevan, school #103. Opening of the school is envisaged by two agreements signed between Armenia and China, according to which Beijing will allocate to Yerevan $11 and $16 million for technical support.

The Armenian side will provide permission for re-construction of the school and will lift duties on import of equipment for the school rooms.

“We want this school to become the largest in Eastern Europe,” Ashotyan said.
