Nine former officials have been summoned for questioning as suspects along the lines of the case into the murder of Hrant Dink, the founder and chief editor of Agos Armenian weekly of Istanbul, who was shot dead on January 19, 2007 in front of his weekly’s office.  

After the sanctioning by the Minister of Justice of Turkey, an Istanbul prosecutor has called for questioning Istanbul former Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah, Istanbul Police Intelligence Department Former Chief Ahmet Ilhan Guler, Istanbul former Deputy Governor Ergun Gungor, and six police officers, reported Sozcu daily of Turkey.  

Dink family attorney Hakan Bakircioglu noted that the authorization to question the officials is an overdue but an important development.
