YEREVAN. – France supports any measures aimed at the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
France’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Jean-François Charpentier, noted the above-said at a press conference on Wednesday.
In the ambassador’s words, the French representatives voice this position of official Paris on a regular basis.
And in response to a query on the bill that criminalizes the denial of the Armenian Genocide, the diplomat recalled that France had passed such a bill, which, however, the French Constitutional Council had not supported.
At present, the French government is carrying out activities toward the drafting of a new similar bill.
“[But] new bill must take the Constitutional Council remarks into account,” the new French ambassador added.
