The Legislative Commission of the Russian government has approved the bill on Armenia’s planned accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

RIA Novosti news agency of Russia reported the aforementioned citing the respective government statement.

According to the source, the Russian MFA and the Ministry of Economic Development have introduced this bill, which will be deliberated on at the cabinet meeting.

“The treaty’s entry into force will ensure Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union as of January 2, 2015, and enable to start the curtailing of restrictions—including constraints—[and] ensure business entities mutual access in the market of the member states,” the statement specifically reads.

In May, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan ratified the treaty on the establishment of the EEU; this document will come into force on January 1, 2015. And on October 10, Armenia signed the treaty on accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
