YEREVAN. - At some point Armenia and Turkey will find a common path for communication and negotiation, announced Ambassador of Romania to Armenia Sorin Vasile, referring to the question of whether the politics and economics are above moral values to the Romanian government, which does not recognize the Armenian Genocide, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.

According to the envoy, who talked in the American University of Armenia, Romania has a very good relations with Armenia.

“With regard to the events (i.e. Armenian Genocide of 1915 - NEWS.am) at the beginning of the past century, this is a very difficult question. Can you tell what is the moral value? Which couple is normal: a couple consisting of a man and a woman? Or, is a gay couple normal or meeting the moral values? For you it is a controversial issue (homosexuality is not prohibited in Armenia - NEWS.am), while for homosexuals that is a great form of family. Or, look at Ukraine, Donbass and Lugansk. I always try to read the information from three sources,” Romanian envoy said. “If you watch Ukrainian TV, you would want to become a warrior of the Ukrainian army. This is a very difficult issue, as politics and geopolitics is not mathematics. I am not saying, who is right and who is wrong, because I have no right to do so. Look at the Franco-German reconciliation.”

At that point a French journalist, who was present at the lection, asked a question, stressing that the reconciliation of France and Germany became possible only because both nations admitted what they had committed in the past.

“This is the reason, why we are friends now [with German people]. To become friends, you need to recognize what you’ve done in the past. So I do not think that you can somehow compare it with what is happening in the relations between Armenia and Turkey,” said French journalist, having received the applause of students present at the lection.

The Ambassador of Romania, however, said that he did not want to make a comparison.

“I am not comparing the events of 1915 or a Genocide with something else. Sooner or later, Armenia and Turkey will find a common path for communication and negotiation. The first step in this direction was the signing of the Armenian-Turkish protocols in 2009 (which were rejected by Turkish side - NEWS.am),” said the envoy, adding that his job is only to strengthen relations between Armenia and Romania.
