The Karabakh conflict must be solved only between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, representative of IWPR Baku office Shahin Rzayev believes.

“Unfortunately, this is a turning point. I cannot remember such kind of aggravation within 20 years. Different situations are possible. Nevertheless, I hope that the leaders of our two countries have wisdom, and they will willingly go to the de-escalation of the conflict, because we shuld not pin hope on any mediators,” he said during a space bridge with Yerevan.

The issue, in his opinion, should be settled only between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Of course, we cannot do here without the participation of Russia, but the latter is known for its inconsistency, sometimes it helps Azerbaijan and sometimes Armenia. I would urge the presidents, of course, who am I to call upon them, but in any case I would urge them to abandon all intermediaries, just sit opposite each other and make the point. This is already very much delayed decision and greatly interferes with the development of our region,” the journalist concluded.
