YEREVAN. - Armenian MP (Heritage Party) Zaruhi Postanjyan accused the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan of treason for his decision to sign the Treaty of Accession of Armenia to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.

Russia, according to Armenian MP, is “a dying state with two million KGB servicemen” in it.

“That is the type of a state we’re going to join,” Postanjyan added.

According to her, Russia “has become an evil” not only for other countries but also for its own people.

“I do not mention here Putin’s scams worth billions of dollars, such as the 2014 Sochi Olympics for example,” stressed Armenian Parliament member. “The process of integration in the Eurasian Union, which is led by a state like Russia, is against the interests of the nation and of the citizens of Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan’s signature under this Agreement is a treason. I appeal to all of you to vote against [the Agreement], as those who choose not to vote against it should also be considered parricides,” Postanjyan concluded.

Armenia signed the Treaty of Accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (member states: Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) on Oct. 10, 2014 in Minsk.
