YEREVAN. - The 2014 has been an unpleasant year for Armenia and the Armenian Army, because of constant provocations on Azeri side, said Armenia‘s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports. However, it was a year of Azerbaijani army’s disgrace.

In his speech at the Yerabloor Military Pantheon, at the funeral of Armenian pilots of the helicopter shot by Azerbaijani side in the neutral zone in violation of the ceasefire, Minister Ohanyan talked about Azerbaijani military provocations in 2014.

“On January 20, Baku sent its special operations elite unit only to be defeated in Martakert. Then the enemy sent the pack of its murderers in Qarvachar, who killed an underage boy and who are in Stepanakert court today, accusing one another and trying to save their own skin,” Seyran Ohanyan said.

Azerbaijan did not follow Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s warning that enemy soldiers will find their graves in Armenian soil, added Seyran Ohanyan. Instead, Azeris decided to transform the sniper war they conducted into diversion war.

“Immediately, they were taught a lesson, when in just one night Armenian Army vividly illustrated to the enemies, what is the true balance of power on the contact line, while we discovered eight new heroes, who did not allow the enemy to enter into our trenches,” Armenian Defense Minister stressed.

Soon, the Azerbaijani side decided to violate the ceasefire and to destroy unprotected and unarmed helicopter on the neutral zone. Armenia’s defense minister qualified Azeri actions, who did not allow to take Armenian pilots’ remains, as inhumanity.

“The enemy does not understand that every time he attempts to hit Armenian Army in the back, he will get response which will again and again reveal the weakness of the Azerbaijani Army,” Minister Ohanyan added. “Today the enemy pays for all of its mindless steps, and the enemy still needs to explain his own people for all of his losses in August and in November, and for all losses during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which could have been avoided.”
