YEREVAN. – Armenia will face serious social problems after accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), and there will be inflation in the country.

Opposition MP, former Foreign Minister Alexander Arzumanyan stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Thursday. He added, however, that this problem has nothing to do with the fluctuating exchange rate of the Russian ruble, but rather with the abovementioned accession.

The deputy noted that, sadly, both the Armenian authorities and the non-government parliamentary forces have announced that they are in favor of the EEU.

In his words, it is accepted in Armenia to think that it is Russia which decides the format of Armenia’s powers that be, and the forces striving for power in the country attempt to win over Russia, and therefore they refrain from making statements which may irritate this country.

As per the ex-FM, it is not at all stated as to where Armenia is heading to and what awaits the country, and the still-non-established EEU already shows signs of collapse.

As for the statements that Armenia’s forthcoming Eurasian Economic Union accession is irreversible, Alexander Arzumanyan noted that there is no treaty to which one shall join and can no longer leave; in this case, there is no need to enter and then leave.
