The Ambassador of Armenia to Argentina, Vahagn Melikian, on Wednesday was awarded, by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, the Grand Cross of the Order of May of Argentina.   

Melikian was awarded this order in recognition of his significant contribution to the development and strengthening of Armenian-Argentinean interstate relations, and his activities toward the development of bilateral political, economic, and cultural ties. 

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, Eduardo Zuain, delivered opening remarks at the event, and spoke about the high level of bilateral relations. 

Ambassador Melikian, for his part, highly praised the present-day level of bilateral interstate relations between Armenia and Argentina.  

The ceremony was followed by a reception.
