The Parliament of Kazakhstan has passed the law on ratifying the treaty on Armenia’s accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

Subsequently, the document was sent to the country’s president for signature, whereupon it will enter into force.

“Once the treaty enters into force, Armenia will become a member in the EEU and assume obligations provided for in this treaty.

“The acceptance of the bill will enable the EEU member countries to create conditions for further economic integration aimed at raising the standard of living of the population of these countries,” notes the conclusion by the Standing Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship of the Senate, which is the upper house of the Kazakh parliament.

According to the data by the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan, the country’s goods turnover with Armenia totals around $7.7 million. In addition, there are prospects for bilateral cooperation in metallurgy, agriculture, and construction.
