YEREVAN. – There is nothing strange in the fact that Prosecutor General of Armenia Gevorg Kostanyan is also the Armenian government representative at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), Justice Minister Hovhannes Manukyan told reporters on Monday.

As per the minister, the prosecutor general of Armenia is in fact the attorney of the country, and institutionally, there is nothing bizarre in concurrently carrying out these two activities.

Manukyan added that his ministry has a department that works with the ECtHR, and which is headed by Deputy Minister of Justice Arman Tatoyan, who is also the deputy of the Armenian government representative at the ECtHR.

“I hope that the assistance by my deputy and the [ministry’s] respective service [department] to the government representative is sufficient, and that it enables [him] to carry out these functions,” Hovhannes Manukyan specifically noted.
