YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, on Tuesday received Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

The PM highly praised the Armenian-Iranian friendly relations, and underscored their continuous deepening.

The Iranian FM conveyed to Abrahamyan the warm greetings by Eshaq Jahangiri, the First Vice President of Iran, and noted that the Armenian Premier’s official visit to Iran in October 2014 has contributed to making the relations between the two countries grow deeper.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the high level of the Armenia-Iran political discourse, and stressed that efforts should be made to make trade and economic cooperation likewise reach this level.

Abrahamyan and Zarif discussed Armenian-Iranian cooperation. Specifically, they reflected on the projects that will promote the development of trade and economic relations.

Speaking on Armenia’s most recent accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union, the Iranian FM noted that this membership likewise will be a factor in the invigoration of Armenian-Iranian economic ties.

The Armenian PM and the Iranian FM also conferred on the regional situation and developments, and highlighted the peaceful resolution of conflicts and stability in the region.
