The 31 km concrete road is completely ready at the Yerevan-Artashat and Yerevan-Ashtarak sections of the strategically important highway, which will connect the north and south of Armenia.
The aforesaid sections are the first in the four parts (tranche) of the country’s North-South road corridor project, informed the Ministry of Transport and Communication. The first tranche will be fully operational at the end of this year.
Even though the North-South project completion is slated for 2019, it is already expanding its geographical scope and venturing out beyond Armenia’s borders.
The main objective of this project is to become a beneficial strategic and economic regional transit zone.
