STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) President Bako Sahakyan on Saturday received renowned Israeli historian and scholar Yair Auron, who is Associate Professor at the Open University of Israel.

The history of the Armenian nation, the process of settlement of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan conflict, and regional tends were discussed at the talk.

President Sahakyan appreciated Auron’s research on the history of the Armenian Genocide from the academic and ethical viewpoints. He stressed that the professor’s work has greatly contributed to the study and international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, and cementing friendship ties between the Armenian and Jewish peoples.

The chairman of the NKR Writers’ Union, Vardan Hakobyan, and several officials also attended the meeting.
