YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia MP Martun Grigoryan has raised in Russia's State Duma the issue of handing over Valery Permyakov to the Armenian law enforcement agencies.

Permyakov is accused of killing seven members of the Avetisyan family, including a two-year-old girl a six-month-old baby.

The Russian side unfortunately gave a negative response, the MP told reporters at a Gymri cemetery where family and friends gathered on the 40th day after the death of the Avetisyans.

“They are not ready to transfer him, but they are eager to work with the Armenian side to conduct joint investigation in Armenia. There were no precise answers on where he would serve his punishment,” Grigoryan added.

Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri, stands accused in this crime. The soldier is charged under Russian law, with “the murder of more than two people” and “desertion with a service weapon.”
