YEREVAN. – Heritage party's trip to the border regions of Armenia on March 1 is not thought as a “countermove” against the Armenian National Congress, chairman of Heritage faction Ruben Hakobyan told reporters.

The trip was planned beforehand, and the party members decided to visit Vanazdor and regions bordering with Azerbaijan.

“The day was not chosen for purpose. We had a timetable, according to which we had to be in Armenia's north-east on those days,” Hakobyan said.

March 1 is marked as an anniversary of the tragic events in 2008 when eight demonstrators and two police officers were killed in clashes. The Armenian National Congress will hold a traditional mourning rally on Sunday.
