YEREVAN. – The investigation along the lines of the criminal case brought against Yeghishe Gevorgyan, who had fled to Azerbaijan with his family, is still in progress.

The National Security Service of Armenia Press Information Center informed the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

To note, a criminal case was opened in connection with Gevorgyan family’s illegal crossing of the Armenian border. After returning to his homeland, however, Gevorgyan’s restraining order of arrest was commuted to a signature bond on not leaving his place of residence.

In January 2010, Yeghishe Gevorgyan, together with his wife and three children, had crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border at the Yeraskh-Nakhichevan road section, with a vehicle. Yeghishe Gevorgyan (born in 1958) had been convicted eight times in Armenia, and at the time of his illegal crossing of the border, he was suspected of being involved in a serious crime. The Gevorgyan family had repatriated to Armenia in December 2014.
