YEREVAN. – People’s Artist of Armenia, renowned actor Karen Janibekyan, passed away Sunday at the age of 77, and after a long illness.

A governmental funeral organizing committee has been set up in connection with Janibekyan’s death.  

Karen Janibekyan was born on July 1, 1937 in capital city Yerevan.

He played in numerous theatric performances and TV theatre, and acted in over fifty films.

Janibekyan was the recipient of many prizes and ex-USSR and Armenian national awards.
