YEREVAN. – The Armenian government’s Urgent Heart Surgery Program has helped save the lives 330 people suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

The Minister of Health, Armen Muradyan, stated the aforesaid in the parliament on Wednesday.

The stenting program for cases of widespread heart attacks is already in use in ten medical facilities throughout the country.

Since the beginning of 2015, a total of 364 patients have been hospitalized within the framework of this program. And as a result of coronarography, surgery did not become necessary in 24 cases.

“Unfortunately, there also have been deaths, including among people over the age of eighty, during the surgeries. However, in  332 of the 340 cases, we managed to save the lives of people,” the minister announced. “This is the tangible positive result of the program, which was designed by the election program of [President] Serzh Sargsyan.”
