Armenia highly appreciates the civil, economic and military technical cooperation with Russia, Armenia’s FM Eduard Nalbandyan told TASS Russian news agency before the planned meeting with Russia’s FM Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday.

“During the meeting with FM Sergey Lavrov, besides the questions on foreign policy coordination and international platform cooperation, we are planning to discuss the whole spectrum of bilateral relations, as well as exchange opinions on a number of international and regional matters. Of course, the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is also on the agenda,” he said.

The Minister reminded that Russia is Armenia’s number one economic and trade partner, as well as chief investor. He highly commended the level of Armenian-Russian relations, which are grounded on a solid legal and contractual base. “The Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation have signed a long-term program of economic cooperation until 2020. We have signed such a document only with Russia and its mere existence implies the exceptional character of our economic relations,” Mr. Nalbandyan said.

Mr. Nalbandyan thinks that Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union opens new opportunities for Armenia to further expand and deepen its economic and trade relations.
