YEREVAN. – It is of key importance that constitutional reforms in Armenia match the Council of Europe standards. Ms Anne Brasseur, the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), told reporters in Yerevan on Monday.

The reforms, currently in progress, are an enormous task for the country, in the sense that they call for a large consensus between political parties. One can never have unanimity, but a large consensus is highly desirable, she stressed.

“Whatever final decision is made regarding the content of the reforms, alignment with the standards of the Council of Europe is of crucial importance,” she concluded.
