YEREVAN. – The leadership of Turkey is becoming more and more alone on the sinking ship of denial. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, stated the aforesaid speaking to the RFE/RL Armenian Service, and with respect to Turkey’s reaction to the European Parliament resolution on the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

“It is evident for a long time that the policy of [genocide] denial has no prospects.

“Turkey is attempting to put pressure on—I would say blackmail—international organizations, [and] numerous countries; but it is unlikely to succeed in this matter.

“It is the parliament representing 28 European countries that adopted a resolution yesterday[, Wednesday]. [But] it’s good that those in Ankara at least realized, [and therefore] did not recall [their] ambassadors from [these] 28 countries.

“Turkey authorities’ reaction recalls a chess player in zugzwang, whose every next move further complicates his situation.

“As it is said in the European Parliament resolution, ‘there can be no reconciliation without truth,’ and I would add: ‘with the international community,’” Nalbandian specifically noted.
