YEREVAN. – The “tsunami” which Turkey feared has already formed. The head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, Giro Manoyan, noted the above-said at a press conference on Monday.

He stated this while reflecting on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As per Manoyan, this “tsunami” was created especially after Pope Francis’ recent Holy Mass at the Vatican, and devoted to the Genocide centenary.

“This ‘tsunami’ will continue also during the [Genocide commemoration] events to be held in [Armenia’s capital city of] Yerevan in the coming days.

“It should also be stressed that Turkey also fell short of its own initiative that marking the 100th anniversary of [the Battle of] Gallipoli would cast a shadow on the Armenian Genocide Centennial events.

“On the contrary, Turkey’s [Gallipoli] event further increased the international community’s attention toward the Armenian Genocide,” Manoyan said.

In his words, a large number of scholars, historians, politicians, and state leaders will be in Armenia from Wednesday to Friday, and along the lines of the genocide commemorations, and this fact will further increase the respective “tsunami” that has formed.
