YEREVAN. – The Syrian community condemns the genocide which the Ottoman Empire committed against the Armenian people.

The Speaker of the People’s Council (Parliament) of Syria, Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, noted the aforesaid Thursday at the two-day International Social and Political Global Forum against the Crime of Genocide. This forum is devoted to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, it is held in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, and about 600 participants from fifty countries are taking part in this event.

“We join you in raising our voices against the policy of genocide, forcible deportation.

“We salute our brothers in Armenia. We call for the recognition of the [Armenian] Genocide and showing of respect.

“Any crime against man should be condemned; this appeal is relevant for the Armenian Genocide.

“The murderers continue to kill today, too. In the 21st century, history will not forgive those who seize and enslave,” Mohammad Jihad al-Laham specifically noted.
