During the discussions on Armenian Genocide held in German Bundestag, the co-chairman of The Greens political party Cem Özdemir delivered a speech wearing a forget-me-not, which symbolizes the Armenian Genocide.

In his speech Özdemir thanked Germany’s President Joachim Gauck and Bundestag President Norbert Lammert for pronouncing the word ‘genocide.’ Pointing to the government representatives and Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as MFA Walter Steinmeier,  Özdemir said: “Unfortunately, I can’t express the same gratitude to the government, since it were up to them, they wouldn’t have pronounced that word and would repeat Turkey’s allegation that Genocide didn’t take place.”
