YEREVAN. – The Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia, Aramayis Grigoryan, received a delegation led by Canadian MP Harold Albrecht, who is also Chairman of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development of the Parliament of Canada.

Grigoryan, highly praising Armenian-Canadian relations and Canada’s active steps toward the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, expressed his deepest gratitude to the members of this delegation for standing with Armenia during these genocide centennial days, and supporting genocide recognition.

Albrecht, for his part, underscored the recognition and condemnation of crimes against humanity, and stressed that it is solely through recognition and condemnation that the recurrence of such crimes can be prevented in the future.

Reflecting on the environmental issues, the minister noted that even though there is no respective track-record of collaboration between Armenia and Canada, this talk is an opportunity to discuss the prospects for such cooperation.

The parties reflected on the two countries’ know-how and capabilities in the environmental domain. It was decided to develop ties between the relevant departments of Armenia and Canada, and to commence close cooperation in this domain.
