It was painful to see USSR FM lay wreath on Ataturk’s grave, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan said during Pozner Program.
Responding to the question on whether he feels regret for the USSR breakup, Armenia’s President said: “Of course, the Soviet Union gave Armenians a lot of things; the small country tortured by the Genocide managed to become one of the leading USSR republics. We actually managed to revive in Soviet times. We felt safer in the Soviet Union…But it was painful to see the USSR FM lay wreath on Atatürk’s grave, also on behalf of the Armanian nation,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
