ALEPPO. – The Syrian militants on Wednesday shelled several neighborhoods in Aleppo, including Armenian districts.

The city’s Armenian community sources informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the densely Armenian-populated Nor Kiugh (New Village, in Armenian) Azizieh, and some other districts were shelled.

There are casualties and injuries, but there is no information on any Armenians killed or wounded.

Around 60 to 70 thousand Armenians lived in Syria before the start of the civil war in the country, and more than half of them resided in Aleppo.
