Official Washington is not going to recognize the results of the Karabakh parliamentary elections to be held on Sunday.

“The United States will not recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent and sovereign state. With this respect we will not accept the results of May 3 elections,” the US State Department spokesman Jeff Rathke said. At the same time he admitted that the Karabakh people should take part in the determination of their future. 

Rethke said that the United States ‘are not going to make rash judgments with regard to Nagorno-Karabakh before the completion of the international negotiations,’ Ria Novosti reports.
