STEPANAKERT. - Prime Minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan received on Saturday a number of MEPs, among them Deputy Chairman of the EU-Armenia Friendship Group Frank Engel, Eleni Theocharous and Tibor Szanyi, who have arrived in Karabakh to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections.  

According to the NKR Government Information and Public Relations Division, the PM welcomed their visit considering it as a result of decision based on humanist values. Referring to the purpose of elections to be held this Sunday, the PM said that they were organized for Karabakh people, since it is they who assess the work of the government authorities.

The MEPs shared their impressions on Karabakh democracy achievements, expressing confidence that a state striving for liberty will constantly improve its indicators on that way. The parties discussed a number of other questions, noting the importance of the necessity to deepen the cooperation established between the European Parliament and Karabakh. 

The meeting was also attended by Levon Grigoryan, Karabakh government Chief of the Staff, and Vardan Barseghyan, Permanent Representative of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in the EU.
