STEPANAKERT. – The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) parliamentary elections were held in accordance with international norms, and they can serve as an example for the region.

National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who led the NA observation mission in this voting, stated the aforementioned at Monday’s press conference devoted to Sunday’s parliamentary election in the NKR. 

In his words, the NA observation mission visited a variety of electoral districts on election day, but neither election fraud was recorded nor complaints were lodged in any of these districts.  

“Free, transparent, and democratic elections were held yesterday in the NKR,” Sharmazanov stated. “Yesterday, the people of Artsakh took another crucial step for themselves, [and] which is aimed at strengthening democracy.”

A total of 110 observers from a variety of countries monitored Sunday’s parliamentary election in the NKR. Seven political parties ran for the country’s 33 parliamentary seats by the proportional system. Fifty individuals, 27 of whom self-nominated, vied for the parliamentary mandates by the majority system.
