YEREVAN. – From 2001 to 2011, Armenia’s permanent population has dropped by 194,500 persons; that is, on an annual average of 20 thousand people.

 To note, foreign citizens who live in Armenia for more than a year are also considered resident population. During the most recent census, their number was almost 23 thousand.

As of April 1, Armenia’s resident population decreased by 5,600 people, on an annual basis. At the same time, however, between January and March, the population grew by 7,300 people, and as a result of natural growth.

According to the January-March data, the negative difference between the Armenian citizens’ migration made up 27,100 people, against the almost 28,500 people in the same period last year.

In addition to all this, there are more than 5,838 Armenian citizen schoolchildren that study, in the 2014-2015 school year, at the public schools outside Armenia. Moreover, the respective difference between inflows and outflows has made up 3,428 schoolchildren.
