YEREVAN. - Attorney Tigran Hayrapetyan filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General, requiring to transfer the case of Byureghavan Boarding School director to Armenia’s Special Investigatory Service, as well as institute criminal proceedings against Filaret Berikyan, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.

Tigran Hayrapetyan, who deals with defending children’s rights and also represents a number of activists from NGOs defending children’s rights and struggling against corruption, told Armenian News – NEWS.am that the Deputy Minister was also accessorial to the ex-directors crime. According to him, the Deputy Minister, who visited the boarding school, couldn’t be unaware of the violations.

Earlier the Appellate Court upheld the decision of the First Instance Court on choosing arrest as a preventive measure for the Byureghavan Boarding School ex-director Gayane Markaryan. According to the Armenian Investigation Committee, the former school director embezzled large amounts of money in the period from 2004-2014 by means of different fraudulent schemes, mainly with the help of dummy workers.
