YEREVAN. - Financial resources leak abroad from Armenia, Hrant Bagratyan, Armenian National Congress coalition MP and ex-PM said in the Parliament Monday during the discussion of a bill on raising the guarantees of deposits by natural persons.

Today the Parliament refrained from considering at the plenary session Bagratyans’s bill on compensation of bank deposits. The bill, which proposed to expand the deposit guarantees of natural persons to legal persons as well, was killed by receiving 55 votes ‘against’ and 44 votes ‘in favor,’ one abstaining. The initiative was supported by all the oppositional forces of the Parliament.

According to Bagratyan, due to the absence of favorable conditions for the deposits of legal persons, $600-650 million leaks from the country annually. “We’re making the legal persons remove their bank accounts abroad,” Bagratyan said.
