YEREVAN. - Armenia’s Parliament adopted at first reading the bill on raising the insurance of deposits of natural persons. The bill was adopted unanimously, receiving 108 votes.
The bill of corresponding amendments to the Law on Ensuring Compensations for Bank Deposits of Natural Persons was drawn up by the Prosperous Armenia party MPs, with the participation of the government.
The bill proposed to raise the threshold of deposit insurance of natural persons in national and foreign currency from 4 to 2 million AMD to 8 and 4 million AMD respectively. As proposed by the government, the threshold in the bill was even raised to 10 and 5 million ($20,8 and $10,4 thousand respectively, according to the current rate).
