STEPANAKERT. – The President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh), Bako Sahakyan, on Wednesday visited the French Senate, where he met with a group of senators.

The President introduced the current state of the state-building process in Artsakh, its domestic and foreign policy, the Karabakh-Azerbaijani conflict resolution and regional trends, and responded to questions posed by those in attendance, reported the Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President.

Sahakyan stressed that Stepanakert deems the development of bilateral relations with France important, and considers it a friendship country, which is a cradle of democracy and a country that had become a second homeland for hundreds of thousands Armenians escaping from their historical land following the Armenian Genocide.

In addition, Bako Sahakyan highly assessed the role of France in the resolution of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani conflict, and the maintenance of peace and stability in the region.
