YEREVAN. - A brand new seismic equipment will start working in Armenia in 2015, Vache Terteryan, First Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations, announced today at the parliamentary hearings on state budget fulfillment for 2014.

The new equipment will be installed in the geophysical observatory in Armenia’s Gyumri city. “It will help us integrate into the international seismic network thanks to the qualitatively new level of monitoring,” Terteryan said.

Overall, 150 seismic stations operate in Armenia and Karabakh. According to Terteryan, they all need to be modernized, but the government intends to carry this out with minimum expense.
