YEREVAN. – Armenia is one the most important partners for Cyprus, Defense Minister Christoforos Fokaides told reporters in Yerevan.

The government of Cyprus attaches importance to further development of relations with Armenia. The Minister recalled the visit of the President of Cyprus to Armenia on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“During his stay, he confirmed our readiness to cherish the memory of the victims of this barbaric act,” Fokaides said, adding that this was a call to exclude repetition of such events.

“Cyprus and Armenia are committed to human rights,” the Minister said,

He once again thanked Armenia for a position on the Cyprus problem. The Minister stressed the need to address historical injustices and the need of reunification of the island.
