YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Thursday attended at the Sardarapat Memorial, and together with the country’s top officials and guests, the First Republic Day celebrations.

The President laid a wreath to the monument to the heroes of the Battle of Sardarapat and paid tribute to them.

The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Armenia also greeted the participants in the respective military parade, and he congratulated on Republic Day.

Subsequently, Sargsyan, together with the ceremony attendees, watched the Republic Day cultural program (PHOTOS).

After the celebrations, the President of Armenia visited the Memorial Complex of Sardarapat Battle, National Museum of Armenian Ethnography and History of Liberation Struggle, informed the Public and Media Relations Department of the President’s Office. The museum was the venue for the award ceremony on the occasion of Republic Day.

With presidential decrees, and in connection with Republic Day, several Diaspora Armenians and a group of servicemen from the Armenian army were presented state awards and titles.

Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the awardees and handed them their awards.

The President of Armenia also delivered an address at the event.
